Extra security has been put in place at a Sunshine Coast shopping complex throughout the school holidays amid reports of antisocial behaviour.
Management for Peregian Springs Shopping Centre, located at 1 Ridgeview Drive, Peregian Springs, announced the change on social media last week.
“Additional security presence will be in place throughout the centre, supporting our zero-tolerance approach to vandalism and the unsafe use of e-bikes and scooters,” the post stated.
It said the centre remained committed to providing a “safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment” for the community.
Queensland Police Service confirmed officers were aware of issues reported at a shopping complex in Peregian Springs.
“Officers from Coolum Police Station have been conducting high-visibility patrols in busy areas and working with local businesses and the community as part of Operation Achilles,” the spokesperson said.
QPS said the operation was aimed at reducing antisocial behaviour during the September school holidays, while police would remain visible throughout the Sunshine Coast District.
“You can expect to see police anywhere and at any time, working together with the community to ensure everyone stays safe,” they said.

Peregian Springs Shopping Centre was contacted for further comment but did not respond at the time of publication.
