A garden club is set to celebrate a ‘blooming impressive’ milestone anniversary this spring.
Buderim Garden Club celebrates 80 years of community gardening with its annual Garden Festival on October 17 and 18.
Established in 1946, the club has spent eight decades bringing gardeners, artists and the wider community together and is the region’s longest-running garden festival.
The milestone will be marked with a weekend of spring colour and creativity including competitive flower, floral art and photographic shows; a quality plant market; five open gardens and a showcase of local sculpture and pottery.
Buderim Garden Club president and festival coordinator John Lyon said the anniversary was an opportunity to recognise the club’s longstanding contribution to the community.
“Eighty years is a wonderful milestone for the Buderim Garden Club,” Mr Lyon said.
“Our festival brings together gardeners, artists, volunteers and visitors in a celebration of spring.
“It showcases the remarkable gardens and creative talent of Buderim while continuing the club’s tradition of sharing knowledge, friendship and a love of gardening.”
The festival will be centred around Buderim War Memorial Hall, where visitors can see displays of cut flowers, floral arrangements, potted plants, foliage, hanging baskets and garden photography.
Garden enthusiasts can stock up at the quality plant market with orchids, bromeliads, gerberas, roses, ferns, begonias, cacti, succulents and other plants on offer.
Five private Buderim gardens will also open to visitors from 9am to 4pm on both days, showcasing different garden styles and planting approaches. A free small-bus service will operate from the hall on Saturday.

Next door, the Craft Cottage will host The Sculptured Garden featuring work by local artists, potters and sculptors, while St Mark’s Church will present a floral display.
The celebrations will wrap up on Sunday with a presentation of trophies at 12.30pm, followed by a monster raffle draw before the festival closes at 2pm.
A $20 festival ticket provides access to the open gardens, spring flower show, floral art displays, garden photography exhibition and plant market.
