Safety measures are set to be carried out on a road that has been included in a state government list of known and potential crash locations.
Improvements are expected to be made to stretches of Palmwoods-Mooloolah Road, which is locally known as Chevallum Road, at Palmwoods.
A Transport and Main Roads spokesperson outlined the works.
“Safety improvements are in the early design phase for two sections,” they said.
“The project plans to deliver safety treatments on Chevallum Road adjacent to the Palmwoods train station intersection and near Bareena Court.
“The proposed safety improvements will provide greater separation between vehicles travelling in opposite directions.”
The work will include road widening, wide centre line treatment and signage.
About 6500 vehicles use the sections of road daily, and there have been four significant crashes in five years.
Chevallum Road provides a 6km link between Palmwoods and the Bruce Highway. It also connects with Eudlo Road to provide a key link to other hinterland towns.

The project was identified through the government’s Targeted Road Safety Program, which aims to deliver high-benefit, cost-effective safety treatments at known and potential crash locations.
Forty-eight roads across Queensland have been earmarked for works under the program.
Some of them include the Landsborough, D’Aguilar, Kennedy and Warrego highways.
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the state government was “getting on with the job of delivering critical road safety upgrades”.
“Whether it’s major highways, regional road networks or local intersections, we’re building a safer and more reliable transport network for Queenslanders.”
