More than 200 shoppers lined up for the opening of an Australian fashion brand’s new Sunshine Plaza store.

SABO’s Sunshine Coast shop officially opened this month, marking the retailer’s fifth outlet nationally and third in Queensland.

Hundreds of customers are also expected at the opening of fragrance brand Mask’s new location within the centre next month.

The SABO store launch was the business’ most successful opening, according to SABO Head of Retail Madeline De Souza.

“The Sunshine Coast has always felt like SABO,” she said.

“It’s coastal, it’s laidback, it’s effortless. Our customers here want pieces that carry them from the sand to dinner without having to think about it.

“Sunshine Plaza was always where we wanted to be.”

Sunshine Plaza is the place to be for many retailers.

The Brisbane-based fashion brand was founded by best friends and sisters-in-law Thessy Batsinilas and Yiota Kouzoukas in 2011 and now ships to more than 200 countries.

Its prints, textiles and designs are created exclusively by its Brisbane team.

The new store opening was marked with a series of giveaways and limited-edition offerings, including the debut of SABO’s Alpine SBO SKT sweater at Sunshine Plaza, a week before its wider release.

The first 50 customers could also get their hands on a limited-edition ‘SABO Smoothie’, created through a partnership with Bubble Boy. Products from Bangn Body and Bouf were gifted to the first 100 purchasers.

The brand also brought its SABO Souvenir Stand to the regio, where visitors could pick up branded postcards and access up to $300 in SABO vouchers.

Several new stores have recently opened or will soon open at the plaza.

It was this week announced that sports fashion retailer JD Sports will open before Christmas, while Australian fragrance brand Mask is set to open its doors on September 12.

A Mask spokesperson said it was the business’ second permanent retail store in the country.

“So it’s a pretty special moment for us.”

“We’ve created a space where the Sunshine Coast can finally experience Mask in real life, with 70 plus scents to smell and discover, all the nostalgia, colour and fun we’re known for, and plenty happening on opening day.”

The store will stock Mask’s air fresheners, toilet sprays, reed diffusers, perfume oils, body mists and hand sanitisers.

The first 300 customers through the doors will receive a VIP gift bag valued at more than $200, stocked with products from Mask, Byron Bay Cookie Co, Candy Claws, Darrell Lea and Breeze Balm.
