Police have increased patrols at a once popular Maleny photography location after ongoing reports of people entering the private property without permission.
Queensland Police said officers were aware members of the public were continuing to access the property on Mountain View Road as a viewpoint, despite it being privately owned.
A police spokesperson said officers were working with the landowner and conducting regular patrols of the area.
During a patrol on July 2, officers spoke with a teenage boy from Booroobin and issued him with an infringement notice.
The property is home to the well-known One Tree Hill lookout, which for more than 25 years welcomed photographers, couples and visitors wanting to capture panoramic views of the Glass House Mountains.
It was formerly operated as a passion project, with visitors making a donation and proceeds supporting local charities.
In 2023, access was closed permanently after Sunshine Coast Council confirmed it had received complaints relating to the property’s use for wedding ceremonies and had advised the owners that a development permit would be required for the site to lawfully operate as a function facility. However, the council said it had not directed the family to close the property to photographers.
