Visitors will soon be able to walk along a newly opened section of beachfront path in front of a popular surf club, with the upgrade set to welcome school holiday crowds later this week.
The opening forms part of the Mooloolaba foreshore revitalisation project, which continues to progress along the beachfront.
A Sunshine Coast Council spokesperson said the contractor was working towards opening the footpath in front of the Mooloolaba Surf Club late Friday, with the first section of the seawall also set to open soon.
“Major construction remains on track for anticipated project completion in early 2027 (March), weather and site conditions permitting,” the spokesperson said.
Stage One of the Mooloolaba foreshore revitalisation, which included the Northern Parkland, is now complete, with Stage Two continuing across the site and including the Central Meeting Place and the Southern Seawall.
The Mooloolaba Surf Club has welcomed the upcoming opening of the footpath.
“That means easier access, more beachfront strolls, and even better views as you make your way to your favourite local spot,” the club said on social media this week.
“Whether you’re joining us for a coffee, a delicious meal, a cold drink with friends, or simply soaking up the stunning ocean outlook, it’s great to see things coming together once again.
“A huge thank you to everyone for your patience during the works. We know many of our members, guests, and visitors have been eagerly awaiting this update, and we can’t wait to welcome even more smiling faces back through our doors.”
Council has appointed SEE Civil to deliver Stage Two of the project, after the company recently acquired the civil arm of Hall Contracting, a Sunshine Coast-based global leader in civil works.
A project update said construction activity was increasing across multiple areas of the site this month, including works on new public amenities, landscaping and preparations for road realignment.

Works include a dedicated subcontractor building new public toilets, showers and a Changing Places facility, as well as ongoing landscaping and underground service installation.
The beach remains open in front of the construction site.
This month’s activity includes continued construction of the terraced seawall, as well as works on the vertical seawall beneath the future ocean viewing deck.
Pathway concrete pours, turf and garden installation are also underway in front of the surf club, along with the transplantation of pandanus into seawall planters near the club.
Seawall surface works are continuing, including vapour blasting and sealing to achieve the final finish in the first section of the terraced seawall.
Other works include removal of existing pavers within the road alignment area, preparatory works for upcoming road realignment in front of the Peninsular Building including underground services, and completion of concrete floor slabs for new public amenities.
