I had a hectic couple of weeks thanks to the Aussie Titles being held on the Sunshine Coast, shared between Maroochydore, Alex and Mooloolaba clubs.

This was tons of work for all involved, but an awesome event.

As the main event was at the Black Swan, I did a fair bit of tramping up and down the beach, but did have the assistance of Sunstate Suzuki, who loaned the club an extra ATV for myself and our volunteers.

That was until day four when I returned from Maroochydore and found the Bluff Bar full of masters competitors letting some steam off and I went straight into glassie mode for a couple of hours.

When I finally made it out of there, I went to put the ATV away and guess what, no key? It had been in my pocket when I started cleaning tables and obviously had come out with the rag I was using. That led to a good two hours of searching floors, bins, my office and everywhere else to no avail.

I am not sure whether it is an age thing, but now when I misplace things and can’t find them I backtrack 1000 times and start feeling sick.

Keys and credit cards are definitely the worst and no matter what system I put in place, inevitably something will go missing. Most times they turn up in a place I put them for safe keeping and then forgot that I did it. Sound familiar?

Back to the other day: I looked, pulled, lifted, emptied with absolutely no success and was that worked up I slammed the door to my office in utter disgust.

This time It forgot something else, no not the keys to my office, but to take my finger out of the door jam. Wow, talk about pain! Then there was blood. Then I couldn’t remember the code to the First Aid room so I bled everywhere until I wrapped my ailing digit in toilet paper to stop the blood going all over the carpet. Did I mention I am on blood thinners, so it looked like a scene from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, when it was one little finger now slightly fatter than it used to be.

It did make me temporarily forget the loss of the ATV key, but after the pain and blood subsided I remembered and had to ring Jamie from Sunstate to fess up.

He is a very tolerant human and managed to get me going again, but if you happen to find a tiny little key on a blue tag somewhere at Alex let me know as  I am intrigued to know where it got to. That’s if I still remember I lost it!
