Multiple police units have been involved in the arrest of a man on a return to prison warrant and facing multiple property and vehicle charges.

Specialist teams including negotiators, the dog squad, POLAIR and the Tactical Crime Squad were used to track and apprehend the Caboolture man.

Sunshine Coast District Police Chief Inspector Jason Overland said the 29-year-old was taken into custody “without incident” at a Mooloolah Valley address on Thursday night, at about 9.40pm.

He said the man was arrested “for a range of (alleged) criminal offences and return to prison warrant”.

“He’s due to face court on the 20th of February, with respect to a range of alleged offences that involved the preceding week or two on the Sunshine Coast and the Wide Bay district.

“There are about 20-odd charges in relation to property and unlawful use of a motor vehicle at this point. Inquiries are continuing.

“We’re just lucky we’ve got the resources available to make this (arrest) happen as quickly and as peacefully as it did.”

He said police are investigating the man’s connection to the property, the occupants and the vehicle he was found with.

Ch. Insp. Overland explained that return-to-prison warrants are generally issued when parole is revoked.

He also lauded the Sunshine Coast-based POLAIR.

“It’s a fantastic resource and we use it wherever we can to assist our on-scene police.”

“We’re very thankful to be able to use POLAIR. We have our own access to them now.

“The Pol-Air provides situational awareness … and the biggest advantage is the safety it provides to our team members and to members of the community.”
