Emergency services have attended a kitchen fire that led to the evacuation of an apartment block in the city centre.
Five Queensland Fire Department crews were among those on the scene at Mungar Street in Maroochydore on Thursday night, at about 9.40pm.
A QFD spokesperson said the fire was inside a unit on the ground floor, but “everyone from the whole block was evacuated” as a precaution.
She said the fire was caused by “food stuff on top of the stove”.
“The kitchen was involved … and the unit was fully smoke-logged.”
The fire was extinguished within about 20 minutes but crews stayed on the scene for about an hour-and-a-half clearing the smoke “to make sure the residents could return at safe levels”.
The Queensland Ambulance Service stated that paramedics also attended.
“A stable female patient was assessed however declined transport.”
