A man was taken into custody and charged with two drug offences following reports of shots being fired in Cooroibah on January 16.

Initial investigations indicate Queensland Police were called to Mackinnon Drive about 10am after reports gunshots had been heard near a property.

A QPS spokesperson told SCN that officers attended the area, conducted initial enquiries and attempted to engage with a 52-year-old man at a nearby address.

Police continued negotiations for several hours before the man was taken into custody without incident about 2pm.

As part of ongoing enquiries, officers later attended and searched a second property on Driers Road at Cooran about 3pm.

The spokesperson confirmed no one was physically injured during either incident.

QPS said the 52-year-old has been charged with two drug offences including trafficking in dangerous drugs.

He is expected to reappear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on 19 January.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and further charges are likely.
