Christmas festivities on the Sunshine Coast could be interrupted by some unsettled weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology expected it to be partly cloudy with a high chance of showers and the chance of a thunderstorm on Thursday. There should also be light winds and temperatures between 21 to 31 degrees Celsius.
Forecaster Jonathan How said there could be mixed conditions during the week.
“We should see a surface trough approaching the east coast on Tuesday, so we will see showers and thunderstorms becoming more widespread,” he said.
There could be severe storms and possible heavy rain on Tuesday and on Christmas Eve on Wednesday.

Mr How said most of the inclement weather should shift north by Christmas Day, although there could still be some impacts on the Sunshine Coast.
“There could be a couple of showers and storms,” he said.
“Plan for a couple of showers but it’s not looking like a washout … with probably less than 10mm (of rain).”
It should be a warm 31 degrees Celsius with northerly winds, before conditions change on Boxing Day on Friday.

“Southerly winds should come through, bringing the temperature down to about 26 degrees,” Mr How said.
He expected relatively dry conditions to follow, with the “slight chance of showers” and temperatures in the mid-20s on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
The BOM has tipped Perth (41C) and Brisbane (35C) to swelter through the hottest conditions of Australia’s capital cities on Christmas Day. Residents in Melbourne and Hobart may have to break out their winter woollies with forecast tops of 17C and 16C respectively.
