A Sunshine Coast-based tech company will expand to include almost 150 staff after it acquired a fellow firm known for its work in cybersecurity, cloud services and automation.

Entag’s acquisition of Rubicon 8 will enable it to work with more businesses and government clients across Australia and create opportunities for growth, innovation and local employment.

The combined team now includes more than 145 experts working from its Sunshine Coast HQ in Birtinya as well as Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Entag CEO Kris Carver said the two companies shared similar values and a strong focus on customer service.

“We’re excited to bring together two great teams with complementary strengths,” he said.

“This is about building something bigger and better for our customers and our people. Entag is investing in the future and the Sunshine Coast is at the heart of it.”

The deal was supported by Anchorage Capital Partners, a Sydney-based investment firm.

Anchorage managing partner Edward Bostock said the acquisition was an opportunity to drive innovation and strengthen leadership in the technology services sector.

“Entag and Rubicon 8 have built outstanding businesses with strong customer relationships. We’re excited to partner with both teams to accelerate growth and build a market-leading IT services platform in Australia,” he said.

“By leveraging the combined strengths of both businesses, scaling systems and processes, and deploying the Anchorage value-creation playbook, we aim to create significant long-term value for our customers.”
