A motorcyclist has been involved in a severe crash on a major Sunshine Coast thoroughfare.
The Queensland Ambulance Service stated that the man was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a life-threatening condition, after the incident on Maroochydore Road on Thursday night.
He suffered pelvic and chest injuries in the crash, which occurred at about 10.17pm.
Sunshine Coast Health told Sunshine Coast News, late Friday, that he was in a critical but stable condition.
Queensland Police stated that the rider was a 19-year-old Buderim man, and the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
They stated that a Yamaha YZF-R7 LA was travelling east on Maroochydore Road when it hit a road sign.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed or has relevant CCTV or dashcam vision of the crash, or the black motorbike in the Maroochydore area prior to the incident, to come forward.
The incident happened near Allora Drive and the Sunshine Motorway interchange.
