The cream of the Coast’s residential builders have been recognised at a statewide awards event, with a local home taking out the top gong.
The 2025 Master Builders Queensland Housing and Constructions Awards were held at The Star Gold Coast, with Sunshine Coast home Horseshoe Hill being named Queensland’s House of the Year.
Jager Build was acknowledged for the exceptional level of technical expertise and precision in constructing the uniquely curved hilltop home at Bald Knob, near Maleny.

Lauded for having demonstrated a mastery of both traditional and contemporary building techniques, the stunning property also earned the Jager Build team best Individual Home over $10 million.
“Horseshoe Hill represents a masterful achievement in contemporary residential architecture, where precise geometric expression and organic form create a home of exceptional presence and liveability,” a statement from Jager Build said.
“The residence’s signature horseshoe-shaped curve is brilliantly counterbalanced by clean linear elements, creating a dynamic architectural composition that responds thoughtfully to its hilltop setting.
“The home’s four distinct wings radiate outward from a central core, each positioned to capture specific views and create protected outdoor spaces.
“This intelligent zoning strategy enhances liveability while maximizing the connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape.
“Floor-to-ceiling glazing throughout dissolves boundaries between inside and outside, creating a seamless spatial experience that celebrates the home’s privileged position.
“This residence stands as a testament to the possibilities of residential architecture when innovative design, technical expertise, meticulous craftsmanship, and sensitivity to place are unified in pursuit of excellence.”

Sunshine Coast industry veteran Anita Bouwman took out the Women in Building Award. The first woman employed by GJ Gardner Homes, Ms Bouwman has spent 45 years shaping major design and construction projects.
In 2010 she founded J Co Constructions with her sons and is the company’s chief financial officer, HR manager and oversees the client liaison and sales team.
“As the primary female figure at J C Constructions, I strive to encourage and empower all women employed within the company,” Ms Bouwman said.
“I urge them to fully immerse themselves in their roles and take pride in their contributions to the construction industry.
“My passion for building and construction allows me to demonstrate strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities and leadership qualities that inspire respect and admiration.
“By showcasing these attributes, I hope to pave the way for more women to confidently pursue careers in this field.”
Master Builders deputy CEO and awards ambassador Sue-Ann Fresneda said each of the winners and finalists were awe-inspiring.
“This year’s entries pushed boundaries in every direction,” Ms Fresneda said.
“From coastal marvels to rural retreats, our members continue to prove that no terrain is too tough when you’ve got vision, skill and a commitment to excellence.
“The stories behind our individual award winners reflect the evolving face of our industry – diverse, driven and leading the way.
“These are the people shaping the future of building in Queensland, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
The winners of the Queensland awards have been put forward for Master Builders Australia’s national Excellence in Building and Construction Awards, which will be held in Adelaide on November 28.
