A new night market is being launched at a popular seaside park this weekend.

Known as Saltwater Saturdays, the markets will come to life from 4pm to 8pm at the foreshore park beside Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club.

Locals and visitors are invited to sample global street food and browse artisan stalls against a backdrop of live beats by DJ Soul Fusion. There will also be free kids’ entertainment by the shore.

The DJ is set to play from 4pm to 6pm followed by live acoustic guitar under the stars until 8pm.

The event is presented by Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club in partnership with Sunshine Coast Music and Events.

“We are delighted to present Saltwater Saturdays for the Mudjimba and North Shore communities,” Sunshine Coast Music and Events director Lea Taylor said.

“It’s about celebrating everything we love about life by the seaside.

“It’s a chance to enjoy the surf, sand, sunset and stars – all in one unforgettable evening at Mudjimba.”

Event organisers are encouraging visitors to pack a picnic rug and togs.

“Come salty from the surf, stay for dinner and dance into the night with your toes in the sand,” they said.

The night market will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month to help raise funds for local surf lifesavers. Entry is free.
