More details have been revealed about a new hotel development on the Sunshine Coast, with the project set to also include 24 residential apartments.

The luxury two- and three-bedroom units will be on the top four floors of the proposed new Crowne Plaza on Ocean Street in Maroochydore.

The apartments are being delivered by Felix Capital and will vary in size from 110sqm to 280sqm.

Residents of the apartments will have access to the hotel’s facilities including a 30-metre pool and spa, wellness retreat, gym, sauna and its two dining venues.

Felix Capital director Michael Maroun said the apartments would appeal because of their location close to the significant infrastructure investments underway at the Maroochydore city centre and Sunshine Plaza.

“All of the expectations for sustainable future growth within this precinct remain intact, particularly riverfront and premium apartment stock, and we are expecting to see significant enquiry from ‘lock up and leave’ lifestyle buyers,” he said.

“These are buyers who live locally or are based in a capital city and want to enjoy a high-end home and have the added benefit of incredible restaurants and cafes as well as sporting, shopping, employment and entertainment precincts just minutes away.”

Mr Maroun said the apartments were designed by architectural and interior design firm DBI.

“We want to create something really unique to top out this development and we believe the inclusion of the state-of-the-art apartments that will sit atop the proposed Crowne Plaza hotel will achieve this,” he said.

“For more than 45 years, DBI has created an incredible range of award-winning projects across Australia and overseas. This has given us the confidence we are after in partnering with them to deliver these luxury apartments.”

The apartments are expected to be released for sale towards the end of the year, with pricing from about $2 million.

The apartment investment is by Felix Capital and does not involve the Crowne Plaza hotel operator IHG.

Construction of Crowne Plaza Maroochydore is expected to commence in early 2026, with a targeted opening in 2028.
