A man has been arrested after allegedly pointing a gel blaster at police.

A police spokesperson said officers were called about 10.20am today to the northbound lanes of the Sunshine Motorway near the Wises Road on-ramp at Maroochydore to reports a man was parked on the side of the road and slumped over the wheel.

When confronted by police, the man was allegedly involved in a physical altercation and arrested.

During the incident, it is alleged the man presented a gel baster.

The man and two officers received minor injuries and have been transported to hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
