A Sunshine Coast grocery store has been revamped with a fresh new look and an expanded range.

White’s IGA Mooloolah underwent a 12-month $3 million renovation, which included a 611sqm increase in size to 1522sqm and the addition of 70 car parks.

Co-founders Roz and Michael White said it boasted modern facilities and a striking flora and fauna mural.

“This store was built for the Mooloolah community,” the former said.

“It’s their store: every detail has been designed with our customers in mind.

“We’re incredibly proud to offer a store that is 35 percent larger in size and now reflects the needs and personality of this wonderful community.

“In keeping with our Locavore philosophy, we are thrilled to support a number of local producers, including award-winning Woombye Cheese.

“Ever since we purchased this store from Wally and Jenny George back in 2007, we’ve worked hard to create a space that serves the community practically and with a personal touch.

“This upgrade wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our design team as well as local tradespeople and the patience of our loyal customers and our staff.”

Michael said the Mooloolah store would rival any of the other five White’s Grocers six Sunshine Coast IGA stores from a quality, range and affordability point of view.

“Roz and I are really proud of what we have created with our refurbished IGA Mooloolah store,” he said.

“We have a fantastic store manager in Diana Van Jole and we employ 70 locals ranging from mums and dads through to school kids who are entering the workforce in their local community.

“To celebrate the store’s transformation, we invite the Mooloolah community to join in the fun with a community barbecue on Saturday, 5th of April, from 9am to midday.

“We’ll have face painting for the kids, a number of samples and giveaways featuring a range of Locavore suppliers and exclusive discounts just for the opening launch.”

The store boasts: an expanded range; local flavours; bakery section offering freshly baked bread and pastries daily; cold-pressed orange juice; popcorn machine serving freshly-made popcorn; homewares, gifts and local flowers; gourmet delicatessen with a variety of specialty items including hand-cut cheese; extended health range; local barista-made coffee (spend $50 and enjoy a free coffee) and expanded facilities.
