An aged care facility has been lauded for its “welcoming” environment and acknowledged with a state accolade.

BlueCare’s Sunrise Beach Aged Care project has been awarded the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Queensland’s Awards for Excellence – Seniors Living.

The Grasstree Court centre is advertised as “a new kind of premium aged care community with small households, quality cuisine and dedicated care companions at hand to provide warm and personalised support”.

Judges praised the facility, which opened on May 1.

“BlueCare Sunrise Aged Care stands out for its innovative duplex-style development, which combines welcoming communal living spaces with state-of-the-art technology for resident monitoring and safety,” they said.

“The design includes flexible, accessible kitchens and dining areas, ensuring comfort and convenience for residents around the clock.

The centre has 51 rooms and will have 102 rooms when completed.

BlueCare group executive aged care and community services Cathy Thomas was delighted to see the project earn the award.

“This recognition is a testament to our commitment to delivering compassionate, innovative, and high-quality care for seniors in Queensland,” she said.

The aged care centre was commended for its design.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see our team’s hard work, dedication, and passion acknowledged in this way.

“A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making this project a success.”
