A recently upgraded brewery property in a prime position is set to be sold.

JLL Hotels and Hospitality Group is selling the Matso’s Sunshine Coast Brewery site at Eumundi.

The revamped 3474sqm property includes a brewery, restaurant and beer garden near the busy Eumundi Markets, which is a short drive from tourist hub Noosa Heads.

The brewery is being offered as a sale and lease back, with the current owner Good Drinks Australia staying on as tenant under a long-term lease.

Formerly Joe’s Waterhole, the venue has undergone a $7.5 million redevelopment, which preserves the original heritage portion of the hotel and front bar, which has operated as a pub since 1896.

To the rear, an expansive dining area has been built with a new bar and restaurant, large seating area and high ceilings.

A new kitchen and toilets, as well as a fully operating brewery and distillery, surround the space.

The dining area opens out onto a beer garden with a large playground in landscaped gardens.

Matso’s Brewery has operated out of its original Broome home in WA since 1997 and has grown to become Australia’s largest independent ginger beer brand.

Good Drinks Hospitality director Aaron Heary said the sale would allow them to focus on their business.

“Over the past decade the popularity of Matso’s Ginger Beer in Queensland has continued to grow and grow,” he said.

Much of the pub’s character and heritage has been retained.

“We felt it was the perfect place for our second home to allow us to share Matso’s with more people and to better immerse ourselves into the local community.

“However, the land came as part of the acquisition of the venue, and we are brand builders
at heart, not landholders.

“The sale and lease back of the land will free up capital to allow us to double down on our invest in our brands to continue to grow in the Queensland market.”

Senior vice-president Tom Gleeson said the property should appeal to prospective buyers.

“The Matso’s Sunshine Coast Brewery offering boasts the key investment fundamentals passive investors are seeking: a long-term lease, recent capital works, large land holding
and a lease underwritten by a reputable ASX-listed tenant, all while being located in the
beautiful Sunshine Coast Region,” he said.

“We are excited to see the interest this asset will generate.”

The process comes on the back of a period of activity for the region with the opening of The Doonan and purchase of the nearby Imperial Hotel by Comiskey Group.

Mr Heary said the area was booming.

“It’s fantastic to see such significant investment into the region and we are buoyed about the future of the Matso’s Brewery and the Sunshine Coast Region in the long term,” he said.

“We couldn’t be happier with the venue’s performance and the growth of the
brand’s awareness following the opening”.

The Matso’s Sunshine Coast Brewery is being sold via an expression of interest campaign closing Thursday, October 3, at 2pm, if not sold prior.
