Residents are being encouraged to help enhance a park that is set to include a dog off-leash area.

Sunshine Coast Council is seeking community input for Khancoban Drive Park at Buderim, which is set to be changed from a local park to a district park.

Councillor Christian Dickson said the park would serve a wider area within Buderim and Mountain Creek.

“It will offer more facilities such as public amenities, community events, outdoor leisure activities and a dog off-leash area,” he said.

“It will provide space for our community to meet and enjoy outdoor activities together.

“Locals have been telling me they want to see a high-quality park with things families can enjoy close to home, without having to travel outside of their own community.

Khancoban Drive Park is set to get a makeover.

“Khancoban Drive Park is a great location and we need your input to help us understand when and how you use the park.

“Tell us what you love about the park, what you would like to see included in the upgraded park, and where within the park you would like to see the improvements included.

“This is how we are working with our community to nurture and enhance our environment and quality of life, and I’m looking forward to hearing your feedback.”

In September, council asked the community where they wanted the dog off-leash area. The designated area will expand the functionality of the park and enable people to exercise their dogs in a green park setting.

Community members can provide feedback via a short survey on council’s website until June 4.

The feedback will help council prepare a draft concept landscape plan for the park, before the community is engaged for further feedback.
