A prominent waterfront restaurant, bar and function venue has new owners, who have introduced a revamped menu.

Hospitality service Kickon Group expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of The Dock Mooloolaba in November.

Tim Lucas, who previously managed The Plough Inn at Brisbane, embraced the role of venue manager and part-owner just in time for the peak Christmas season.

“It was fantastic to witness the venue thriving during the busiest time of the year,” he said.

“We made a conscious decision not to implement any changes during this period, prioritising the team’s well-being and getting to know the local community during the busy season.”

After gaining experience and familiarising himself with the local area in recent months, Mr Lucas is now focused on connecting with the local community.

He has formed a corporate partnership with the Sunshine Coast Falcons Rugby League Club and secured a sponsorship agreement with the Mountain Creek Sharks Junior AFL Club.

Situated at The Wharf on Mooloolaba marina, The Dock has also had a complete menu change curated by Kickon Group culinary director (and AHA Chef of the Year) Jake Furst and Queensland executive chef Ash Reed.

Mr Reed said there was a focus on seafood and the wood grill.

The fresh seafood is sourced locally from Mooloolah River fisheries, and the chicken comes rom Forage Farm.

The menu still has pub classics like the chicken parmiagana and steak sandwich but also features elevated pub dishes like baked scallops with cafe de paris sauce, woodfired Mooloolaba prawns with red chimichurri butter and fresh lime, and woodfired lamb ribs with house pickles and gado gado sauce.

Mr Lucas said he was looking forward to taking big steps with the business.

“My priority for the rest of the year and beyond will be building a stronger stance within the local community and delivering on our Kickon Group purpose by creating an environment where our people feel proud and inspired to deliver amazing experiences,” he said.

The venue also has numerous opportunities in the works that it is waiting to finalise.
