Development groups from the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay have merged and formed a new board, in an effort to strengthen the greater region.

The two branches of Regional Development Australia joined forces on April 1, and welcomed highly-motivated business leaders who are set to play a hands-on role facilitating economic development opportunities and investment.

Incoming Chair Gavin Keeley said the new board was selected through a thorough recruitment process, via an independent selection panel.

“The level of interest and the calibre of nominations that we received were incredibly encouraging, and the new board reflects the high degree of business acumen which can be found across the RDA Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast region,” he said.

The new board members are Melinda Bryant, Andrew Eves-Brown, Frank-Armin Faller, Murray McCarthy, Sarah Morgan, Lenore Simpson, Stacey Turnbull, Amanda Wilson and Dalene Wray.

Mr Keeley was appointed by the Minister for Regional Development Kristy McBain on January 1.

“I’m excited and incredibly honoured to be acting as the inaugural board chair for this new chapter of RDA Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast, as the decisions we make in the next few years will define our region for decades to come” he said.

“With the recent merger bringing together our three local government areas, it was incredibly important that the new board reflected the best and brightest of the City of Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, and Noosa, as well as representing all the facets that make up our vibrant and diversified economy, and I believe that balance is something that we have clearly achieved.

“With the appointment of the new RDA Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast Board, we are very confident that our team will play a meaningful role in strengthening our relationships with all levels of government and communities throughout our region, as well as working at a strategic level to make a difference to all current and future businesses and citizens that call Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast and Noosa home.”

With the board in place, they are now looking to appoint a new Director Regional Development and suitably qualified candidates have been encouraged to apply.
