The who’s who of women in lifesaving were among those who converged at Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club on Saturday for the Surf Woman Alumni Luncheon.
Hosted by Surf Life Saving Queensland, the luncheon was part of International Women’s Day celebrations and honoured women’s contribution to surf lifesaving.
There are 18 Surf Woman (formerly the Summer Surf Girl) entrants, with a strong contingent from the Sunshine Coast, and they took part in a Q&A on stage.
Television personality Liz Cantor hosted the event and was a judge, alongside 2019 Surf Girl Sophie Gerry, 2020 Australian and Queensland Volunteer of the Year Belinda Doman, Surf Life Saving Australia Board Member and businesswoman Toni Bache and Chief Operating Officer of The Star Jess Mellor.
This was one of two weekends where the entrants will come together to be judged on a range of skills.
A winner will be crowned at the Surf Woman of the Year Award Dinners held on the Gold Coast in May.
The 2021 Surf Woman program is focused on empowering women to grow their leadership and networking skills.
The five Surf Woman entrants are Jessica Appel (Coolum), Brittani Neyman (Mudjimba), Tahlia McSwan (Maroochydore), Nikki Firmin (Kawana Waters) and Eliza Dreves (Metropolitan Caloundra).
