Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support of our Adopt a Family Christmas appeal. We are delighted to share that every family on the charities’ lists have now been adopted!

This would not have been possible without the support of our wonderful community. Thanks to your kindness, there are many families who will have something to look forward to on Christmas Day and many children, who otherwise would not have a gift to open, will now have a smile on their face.

It’s been a tough year for many of our neighbours and your support is testament to the generous, close-knit community that makes our region so special. Here are just a couple of sentiments from two of our charity partners about the success of the campaign.

“I took a number of calls yesterday from people as late as 5pm and it would appear we have had each and every family adopted on your list. We can’t thank you enough for all your support and care of the Sunshine Coast Community and your support of IFYS is always greatly appreciated from the bottom of our heart.” – IFYS

“We have now fulfilled our list with gifts still coming in over the next couple of days. The community spirit has been quite overwhelming, and our families will be so grateful for all the kindness and support for children in out of home care.” – Anglican Care

The Adopt a Family campaign was run by Sunshine Coast News in partnership with ‘sister’ publication My Weekly Preview.

A total of 209 families from six local charities were listed by the two publications, with members of the public choosing a family and then buying a gift for each family member.

The participating charities were IFYS, Connect Kids, CAYAC, Anglicare, Noosa Coolum Salvos and SunnyKids.
