A Melbourne burger and bar chain inspired by the Big Apple is set call Noosa’s unofficial foodie hub home with its “bougee” offering.

New York Minute will officially open on Saturday at Noosa Junction, offering a refined version of the much-loved handheld food.

With established stores in Victoria, this will be the first interstate store for the burger chain.

It will focus on fresh, local produce and a lighter, “refined” burger experience.

New York Minute CEO and founder Antony Crowther first began the brand in 2010, applying his then-20 years of experience in quick-service restaurants to deliver what he saw as a gap in the Australian burger market.

Over the years store numbers grew across Melbourne and the original dine-in model converted to a virtual base with the rise of Uber Eats in the metropolitan city.

Speaking with Sunshine Coast News, Mr Crowther said he was looking forward to re-establishing New York Minute’s roots as a restaurant and sharing its burgers with Noosa.

“We are a bougee beer and burger bar – we are quite refined,” he said.

“We have chicken burgers and beef burgers but we also do pork, brisket on a roll, Philly cheese steak and some other smoked options.

“We will have a lot of salad in our burgers and use a 100-gram patty, so you can come in and have a cocktail and burger and still feel good.”

Mr Crowther said a long-time friend at Coolum Beach would often try to convince him to open a store on the Coast.

“So, I came up to visit him … and I think in about two hours I was hooked,” Mr Crowther said.

“We looked at about 30 different locations all over the Sunny Coast and landed here, and it’s perfect for us.”

Located on Sunshine Beach Road, Mr Crowther said he was looking forward to contributing to the activation of Noosa Junction and its growing foodie scene.

“It moves us more to our traditional model. It’s more of a restaurant and bar and up here everyone comes out and eats.

“It only makes sense for us to go back to our roots and who we are as a brand.”

Mr Crowther said the venue will also be available to host functions and events.

New York Minute is located at 5 Sunshine Beach Road, Noosa Heads, and is now open. Its launch event is on Saturday from 2pm.
