A new aged care facility that boasts “all the creature comforts” and paddock-to-plate fare has opened near the beach.

Rockpool Pelican Waters held its official opening on Friday night. It’s the first aged care home by Rockpool Residential Aged Care on the Sunshine Coast, and its third in South-East Queensland.

Located on Spitfire Banks Drive at Pelican Waters, it is moments from the nearby marina and village. It has water and mountain views, and offers a range of care options including residential, respite, memory support and palliative care.

Rockpool Residential Aged Care CEO Melissa Argent said the $44 million facility would leave an enduring legacy on the Sunshine Coast.

“Innovation and sustainability underpinned construction,” she said via a media release.

“The 150-bed home is comprised of 10 thoughtfully designed and built communities which support 15 residents (each).

“A large dining area and shared lounge is located at the heart of each community.

“All the creature comforts and luxuries of home have been incorporated into the six-storey build, including an amazing garden and vegie patch.

The aged care centre is in prime position, near the beach and the marina.

“Paddock-to-plate isn’t just for the Sunshine Coast’s top restaurants, it’ll happen daily at Rockpool Pelican Waters.

“Residents will have access to domestic kitchens for supervised cooking, walking tracks, an on-site laundry, landscaped gardens, a cinema, outdoor barbecues, a purpose-built hobby shed, a hair and beauty salon, and a fully equipped wellness and vitality centre.

“Residents can also enjoy an onsite cafe, The Rocks Cafe Pelican Waters, which will also be open to the public.”

Rooms are between 24sqm to 44sqm and standard inclusions are a kitchenette, smart TV, recliner chair, desk and study area, ensuite, in-room phone and king single bed.

Rockpool staff cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the centre.

Rockpool Pelican Waters follows Rockpool Morayfield, which opened in 2020, and Rockpool Carseldine, which opened last year.

Construction at Rockpool Songbird, at Oxley, is scheduled to start later this month.
