Celebrated comedian and self-described design nerd Tim Ross will look into his crystal ball to ponder what the Sunshine Coast will look like in 2030 at a special ‘Future Coast’ event on Thursday, February 18, at the MET within the new Maroochydore CBD.

Bronwyn Adams, Project Manager City Activation, SunCentral, said she was pleased to have such high-profile personalities like Mr Ross and Ben Johnston, whose combined passion for design and innovation was amplified globally across a range of traditional and social media platforms.

“COVID-19 put paid to Tim attending our planned event last year so it’s great that we’ve been able to secure him for this year’s ‘Future Coast’ event.

Mr Ross will specifically look at the region’s population growth and how we can have a say in this growth so we can better plan for our future.

“We are also pleased to have co-founder and CEO of Josephmark, Ben Johnston, who will  share the stage with Tim,” Ms Adams said.

“Ben will explore how digital products can change the way we work, play and connect, focusing on developing ecosystems for bigger thinking and intentional problem solving.

“Ben will also share his own living lab experiment with a multi-generational living/business on his farm on the Sunshine Coast hinterland.”

The Design Series Future Coast event will be held on Thursday, February 18, from 5.30pm-9pm at The Metropolitan (MET) Cnr First Ave & South Sea Islander Way, Maroochydore.

Tickets can be purchased from mccmetropolitan.com.au/the-design-series at $45 per person and includes food, live music, and a display of artwork.

A full bar will be open with all profits directed to the Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance and local creative projects.

The Design Series is presented by SunCentral in partnership with the Australian Institute of Architects, Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, Engineers Australia, Planning Institute of Australia, Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance and Park and Leisure Australia.

The Design Series Future Coast event is sponsored by Walker Corporation, Place Design Group and James Birrell Design Lab. The Metropolitan is an initiative of SunCentral Maroochydore.
