A man has been taken to hospital after a serious incident in the surf at a popular Sunshine Coast beach.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said a man in his 70s suffered a significant neck injury after he was struck by a wave at Mooloolaba Beach at about 2.46pm.

Lifeguards were on the scene before paramedics arrived, and he was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.

Sunshine Coast Health staff said that he was in a serious but stable condition at 5.30pm.

Meanwhile, the QAS stated that two people were taken to SCUH, in stable conditions, after a two-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway at Eeerwah Vale at 3.16pm.

Both southbound lanes were reportedly closed immediately after the incident, before one lane was reopened.

A person was also taken to SCUH, in a stable condition, after a single-vehicle rollover on Mons Road and Parsons Road at Forest Glen at 9.15am.
