A man has been charged with multiple offences, including stealing and fraud, after a vehicle was tracked by police on the northern Sunshine Coast.
It will be alleged the man, who was suspected of stealing keys from a business on Eumundi Noosa Road on January 17, was spotted driving a black Holden Commodore on the Sunshine Motorway on January 19 and subsequently tracked by Sunshine Coast police.
The vehicle was found crashed and abandoned at Tewantin in the early hours of January 20, before the man was located nearby and arrested.
A subsequent search of the Holden Commodore uncovered items allegedly stolen from a business on Herbenar Lane in Magnolia, near Maryborough, on January 13.
Further inquiries led Wide Bay police to search a residential property on Scott Street in Maryborough about 4pm on January 20, where they seized a maroon Hyundai Santa Fe.
That vehicle was allegedly involved in a break and enter at Magnolia on January 13 and a number of other alleged offences in recent weeks, including a fuel drive-off at Cambridge Street in Granville, Maryborough, on January 13.
The 24-year-old Maryborough man has been charged with five counts of fraud and two counts each of evading police, enter premise with intent, stealing, wilful damage and mail theft.
He was also charged with one count each of unlawful possession of stolen property, stealing a vehicle, possessing counterfeit money, vehicle number plate offence, driving whilst disqualified and breach of bail.
He has been remanded in custody and is next due to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on February 16.
