High-visibility police will soon be hitting the streets of a Sunshine Coast town, answering the community’s call for increased enforcement.
The new Nambour Police Beat is set to be operational by the end of the year, after the state government committed to rebuild frontline policing in the CBD.
The Lowe Street site was identified in consultation with members of the local business community and police representatives.
The plan to make Nambour safer also includes a new state-of-the-art CCTV network.
The Police Beat will be staffed by a full-time police officer and will contain interview and meeting rooms, along with a waiting and reception area.
It comes after Nambour locals expressed concerns about safety in the town, amid an escalating homelessness crisis.

Premier David Crisafulli said the Police Beat should make a difference.
“We are restoring safety where you live with a new permanent police presence in Nambour CBD,” he said while in Nambour on Thursday.
“This is part of our plan to make Nambour safer and, with new CCTV, more police and Adult Crime, Adult Time, we will turn the tide on youth crime.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said community safety was a priority.
“This new Police Beat will strengthen local safety, improve engagement and help restore safety where you live,” he said.
“We are upgrading police facilities and delivering new police beats to give police the resources they need to make our community safer.”
Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said the initiative was in response to community concerns.
“We are restoring safety where you live and giving our police the resources and tools they need in Nambour,” he said.

“The community has been calling for a new police beat for over a decade.”
More than 19 new recruits have joined the Sunshine Coast police ranks since the election.
