The Brisbane Roar are set to bring an A-League match to the Sunshine Coast for the first time.
The Michael Valkanis-coached outfit will collide with the Newcastle Jets in Round 4 at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Sunday, November 9.
The club made the announcement on Wednesday, after their usual home ground was allocated to heavy metal legends Metallica that weekend.
“After an incredible pre-season fixture against the Central Coast Mariners at the same ground, which attracted nearly 7000 fans, Brisbane Roar’s aim is to well and truly sell out the venue for the upcoming fixture,” a release stated.
“Brisbane Roar’s decision to bring this fixture to the Sunshine Coast comes after not being able to play at Suncorp Stadium due to the venue’s unavailability on that weekend.

“The decision was also made off the back of the men’s pre-season fixture and wanting to thank a football-hungry region by bringing a competitive fixture to the Sunshine Coast.”
Roar chief operations officer Zac Anderson, who hails from the area, said the club was delighted to play there.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing Round 4 of the Isuzu UTE A-Leagues to the Sunshine Coast, in what will be a historic day for not just football in the region but the competition as a whole,” he said.
“The region has shown incredible support to the Roar and it’s fantastic to continue strengthening that connection with our fans up the Bruce Highway.
“Sunshine Coast Stadium provides a great atmosphere for football and we’re looking forward to another exciting day out for our supporters and the local community.”
The Roar finished 12th of 13 teams last season while the Jets were 9th.
The former won their season opener 1-0 against Macarthur in Brisbane on Friday while the latter lost 3-2 away to Central Coast on Sunday.
The game will kick-off at 4pm. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketek.
