A Sunshine Coast motorcycle rider has died after a crash near Kilcoy yesterday.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash at Royston, which occurred about 2pm.

Initial inquiries indicate a motorbike was headed east on the Daguilar Highway when it collided with a trailer being towed by a four-wheel-drive, also travelling east, near the intersection of Mary Smokes Creek Road.

The rider of the motorbike, a 27-year-old Moffat Beach man, died at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the 4WD, a 33-year-old Beerwah man, was not physically injured.

Investigations are ongoing.
