The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal crash along one of the Sunshine Coast’s most prominent roads.

The Queensland Police Service stated that initial investigations indicate that a grey Volkswagen sedan was travelling along Maroochydore Road, about 200m west of Broadmeadows intersection, when it left the road and collided with a tree, on Thursday night at about 10.50pm.

The driver of the sedan, a 21-year-old Nepalese man, was declared deceased at the scene.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to contact them.

Investigations are ongoing.

The Queensland Ambulance Service stated that paramedics assessed a male in his 20s with life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle crash into a tree on Maroochydore Road but he was declared deceased on the scene.
