Detectives have charged nine people with a combined 114 offences after investigating alleged burglaries, violent robberies and shootings.
Gympie Criminal Investigation Branch detectives laid the charges following a series of alleged incidents across Gympie and South-East Queensland from July to September.
The detectives from Gympie, with the assistance of Logan CIB and specialist officers, coordinated tactical actions against the accused group, executing nine high-risk search warrants from September 11 to 27.
Two firearms and three allegedly stolen vehicles were recovered.
A 34-year-old Gympie man has been charged with four offences including serious obstruct police, evasion offence and domestic violence (DV) related offences. He has been remanded in custody to reappear before Gympie Magistrates Court on November 10.
A 33-year-old Monkland man has been charged with four offences including two counts of choking/strangulation (DV offence), as well as one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break (DV offence) and one count of assault occasioning bodily harm (DV offence). He is due to appear before Gympie Magistrates Court on October 13.
A 47-year-oild Victory Heights man has been charged with eight offences including two counts of robbery armed, as well as one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break whilst armed, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed in company and other offences. He is due to appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 11.
A 23-year-old Amamoor Creek woman has been charged with nine offences including unlawful use of motor vehicle, stealing and seven counts of fraud dishonest application of property of another. She is due to appear before Gympie Magistrates Court on October 20.
A 23-year-old Kawungan man has been charged with 17 offences including three counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, as well as one count each of stealing of vehicle, robbery, armed, used personal violence, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, enter dwelling and commit and other offences. He is due to be mentioned in Gympie Magistrates Court on December 8.
A 21-year-old Monkland woman has been charged with seven offences including six counts of supplying dangerous drugs and possess anything used in commission of crime defined in Part 2. She is due to be mentioned in Gympie Magistrates Court on December 8.
A 34-year-old Gympie man has been charged with 47 offences including robbery, armed, in company, possess Cat H weapon (pistol), unlawful use of motor vehicle, wilful damage, stealing of vehicle and five counts of stealing, as well as other offences. He was due to be mentioned in Gympie Magistrates Court on September 29.
A 37-year-old Gympie man has been charged with 16 offences including three counts of robbery armed, unlawful use of motor vehicle, stealing of a vehicle, possess shortened firearm, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed in company and other offences. He was due to appear before Gympie Magistrates Court on September 29.
A 26-year-old Gympie man has been charged with two offences including unlawful use of motor vehicle and obstruct police. He is due to appear before Gympie Magistrates Court on October 20.
Wide Bay Burnett District Crime Group Detective Acting Inspector Steven Watts said police were committed to preventing and disrupting serious crime behaviour.
“These individuals were involved in violent and highly concerning criminal activity,” he alleged.
“The outcome of this operation is a testament to the dedication and determination of detectives and tactical officers to bring these offenders into custody and ensure community safety.”
