A developer has confirmed its plans to close a popular holiday park early next year, as it prepares to redevelop the site into a six-storey apartment complex.
Sunshine Coast-based Cube Developments said the Golden Beach Holiday Park would close at the end of January 2026, in line with the final bookings at the site.
The developer secured the 11,236sqm site at 9 Onslow Street, Golden Beach, for $10,775,000 after it went on the market last year.
A development application has been submitted by Cube for a 60-unit residential project to be delivered on a 2034sqm portion of the site.
Cube director Scott Juniper said the holiday park closure marked an important milestone in the evolution of Golden Beach.
“Our plans will deliver new housing opportunities, local jobs and improved amenity for the community, while helping to support the ongoing growth of the Caloundra economy,” he said.

“With construction of the first stage comprising 60 apartments expected to commence soon after the park’s closure, it was not possible for the holiday park to continue operating alongside the redevelopment works.”
The proposal includes 40 two-bedroom and 20 three-bedroom units, plus a food and drink outlet, over six storeys reaching 18 metres high, plus a basement car park. The apartments will be used for both permanent and short-term accommodation.
A total of 100 car parking spaces will be provided, including five for the food and drink outlet and 15 residential visitor spaces.

The development application was submitted to Sunshine Coast Council in May and has not yet been approved.
In July the council issued an information request to the applicant, Juniper Family Property Holdings, asking for more details on the proposal, citing issues with site cover and setbacks, building appearance, landscaping and discrepancies in car parking numbers.
It says site cover appears to be “well in excess of” the 70 per cent (first two storeys) and 50 per cent (above two storeys) allowed.
“From the submitted drawings it appears that the site cover up to level two is approximately 1800sqm (88.5 per cent), and the site cover for the tower levels above is approximately 1550sqm (76 per cent),” it stated.

The holiday park has 63 powered sites, a 12-room motel, two cabins, a three-bedroom caretaker’s house with attached reception, central amenities block, workshop and pool area.
It is the only holiday/caravan park at Golden Beach.
Mr Juniper said Cube remained committed to Golden Beach and the Sunshine Coast, where the company has delivered a number of projects including Oasis at Bokarina Beach, Park Rise in Bli Bli and Nature at Cotton Tree.
“Golden Beach is an area of enormous potential and we are excited to be playing a role in shaping its future,” he said.
Cube also has plans for an integrated tourism accommodation development with almost 100 units called The Palms at the Oaks Oasis Resort on Landsborough Parade in Golden Beach.
