The second stage of upgrades at a popular beachside park has been unveiled, with new picnic shelters, seating and lighting among the improvements.

The revamp of Ed Webb Park in Sunshine Beach also includes improved pathways and accessible walkways.

The $1.4 million project was jointly funded with $790,000 from the Labor Government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and $610,000 from Noosa Council.

Stage 2 builds on the success of Stage 1, completed in July 2024, which focused on upgrading the Belmore Terrace pathway and boardwalk to improve pedestrian safety and connectivity.

Planning for Stage 3 is now underway.

“Ed Webb Park has always been one of those wonderful places that makes the Sunshine Beach area so iconic, with its incredible coastal views and a hugely popular surf lifesaving club,” Queensland Senator Corinne Mulholland said.

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien, Queensland Senator Corinne Mulholland and Noosa mayor Frank Wilkie cut the ribbon to open the next stage of Ed Webb Park upgrades.

“So it was important that these works didn’t change the character of the park but rather enhanced it, while improving public safety and access and also installing modern amenities in the area.

“I really want to congratulate council on a job well done here, because I think they’ve hit all the right notes in making the park safer and more enjoyable for the Sunshine Coast community.

“And there’s more to come, I can’t wait to come back and see how Stage 3 of works look once the project is fully completed.”

Noosa mayor Frank Wilkie said the project reflected the council’s commitment to creating safe, inclusive and resilient public spaces.

“Ed Webb Park holds a special place in the hearts of Sunshine Beach locals,” he said.

“These thoughtful upgrades not only make the park more welcoming and accessible, but they’ll also help preserve its beauty and function for years to come.”

Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories Kristy McBain said: “It’s fantastic to see work complete on the Stage 2 of the Ed Webb Park upgrade, which is one of many projects we’re partnering with Noosa Council on, as part of more than $5.6 million in Local Roads and Community Infrastructure funding from the Australian Government.

“This project is a great example of how the Albanese Government is supporting local councils like Noosa Council to fund upgrades to infrastructure and facilities that the community needs.”
