A Sunshine Coast acreage featuring a unique handmade fireplace built with 7000 solid bricks from a 19th-century bakery has hit the market.

Owners Jane and Graham Ogden have lived at 63-75 Musavale Road, Eerwah Vale, for the past 13 years and said the fireplace was a standout feature.

Mr Ogden, a retired bricklayer, created the masterpiece after sourcing 7000 bricks stamped with the famous ‘Campbell’ name.

They were taken from a bakery at Landsborough between the 1800s and 1900s.

Mrs Ogden said the fireplace was built in her husband’s spare time during a 12-month period and featured voussoirs (wedged-shaped bricks) that were taken from old bakery ovens and used in the arch.

“It’s a solid feature of the home,” she said.

Ray White Rural Dayboro/Eumundi selling principal Vicki Pain described the property as a “rich visual experience”.

“The fireplace is one of many standout features here,” she said.

“The property is on 57 acres and has the best man cave I have seen in a while.”

The man cave has a rustic charm and is lined with aged corrugated iron and timber.

The home – a renovated Queenslander built in the late 19th century – was moved from Red Hill in Brisbane to its current location in 1978.

The Ogdens, who have four grandchildren, plan to downsize from their double-storey, four-bedroom, two-bathroom house.

“We love the position here so we are planning to move somewhere nearby,” Mrs Ogden said.

“This property is in close proximity to everything. It’s in a small country town, which we love, and close to Cooroy, Kenilworth and even Noosa.

“We’re located on a private country lane: it’s nice and peaceful.”

The couple have renovated their home, enclosing the downstairs area and adding modern touches while keeping the Queenslander feel.

With six dams on site, a horse named Ned and 20 cattle, Mrs Ogden said there was plenty to enjoy.

“We have a mountain at the back and there’s tracks all over it. We have enjoyed bushwalking, riding our hose and appreciating glimpses of the ocean from the top,” she said.

“This property would be ideal for extended families, horse lovers and professionals.”
