Two of the A-League’s traditional heavyweights are set to collide in a pre-season game at Sunshine Coast Stadium, with tickets from just $6.

The Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners will meet at the Bokarina venue on Sunday, August 24, ahead of the season start in October.

Brisbane Roar CEO Kaz Patafta was delighted to announce the fixture.

“I want to thank Sunshine Coast Council and Football Queensland for their support in helping make this happen,” he said.

“It is set to be a fantastic day engaging once more with the community, whilst offering both clubs an opportunity to continue their preparations ahead of the new campaign.”

The Roar and Mariners are two of the A-League’s foundation clubs and among the most successful, behind only Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory.

However, both missed the finals in 2024-25. The Roar were 12th of 13 teams and the Mariners were 10th.

The Roar last won silverware in 2013-14, when they won the premiership and championship, while the Mariners captured the double in 2023-2024.

The former has a new coach, in ex-Adelaide United captain Michael Valkani.

Several activations and activities are in the works for the pre-season clash, with the Roar to release more details closer to the day.

Tickets are set to go on sale on Friday, August 8, at noon.
