Murder accused Kieysha Jade Sky, 18, was allegedly involved in a string of break-ins, including a violent home invasion on the same day Zdravko Bilic was fatally stabbed.

The young woman became the third person charged with murder after the 57-year-old was found dead by a neighbour in the yard of his suburban home at Warana on the night of July 14.

Days after police charged boys aged 15 and 17 with his killing, Sky was arrested on Tuesday at Toowoomba, nearly three hours’ drive from the alleged murder scene.

Mr Bilic was allegedly stabbed twice after disturbing a break-in about 11.30pm on July 13 – about 20 hours before his body was found.

Sky has also been accused of breaking into a home just 20 minutes’ drive from the alleged murder scene on the same day as the fatal stabbing.

The 18-year-old was charged with armed robbery and assault causing bodily harm to a woman after allegedly breaking into the home in the northern Brisbane suburb of McDowall on July 13.

Sky was also accused of an attempted break-in at a Nirimba property, about 15km from Mr Bilic’s home, on the same day he was allegedly murdered.

In addition, she was charged with breaking into a home in the Logan suburb of Waterford and stealing car keys and a vehicle between July 11 and 14.

Prosecutors on Wednesday alleged Sky also stole a vehicle at Bethania, made multiple attempts to break into another home at McDowall and stole property.

Sky, from the Logan suburb Bethania, south of Brisbane, was not required to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court when her murder, violence and property offences were mentioned.

Defence solicitor Brad Skuse requested magistrate Michelle Dooley transfer the matter to Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast.

Mr Bilic was found dead at the beachside home he shared with his wife, multimillion-dollar skincare business founder Gry Tomte.

Ms Tomte was not home at the time and had asked a neighbour to check on her husband after she had not heard from him.

Mr Bilic – a popular local figure who worked as a junior soccer coach – was discovered by the neighbour about 7.30pm.

His death shattered the community in the quiet suburb of Warana, which has rallied around his wife.

“If you’ve had the privilege of being in Zed’s presence, you’ll know that he was literal sunshine … and the world is a little less bright without him in it,” Ms Tomte said in an earlier statement.

Ms Dooley ordered that Sky be remanded in custody ahead of the case being mentioned again at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on September 29.
