Sunshine Coast Council has handed down its budget for 2025-26, with mayor Rosanna Natoli saying “we’re making considered choices to keep our region financially strong while maintaining services and delivering much-needed infrastructure projects”.

The budget includes $30.2 million for maintaining and improving roads; $22.4 million for park amenities, turf and landscape maintenance; more than $11 million to protect coastal areas impacted by erosion and $23 million for libraries.

But it also includes a rise in rates and charges, with an average household increase of about $2.10 per week.

“Improving the accessibility and offerings in our outdoor spaces will get a boost, with an all-abilities ramp at Coolum Beach, plenty of park upgrades, and enhancement of our environmental recreation areas. Bike enthusiasts will be able to take advantage of the new pump track in Coolum.

“After extensive planning with many stakeholders, the Coolum District Sports Ground will move into detailed design, with construction to follow in future years.”
