Two Sunshine Coast schools will receive infrastructure upgrades worth more than $300,000 aimed at improving road safety during drop-off and pick-up times.
It is part of a statewide $2.3 million funding boost that will go towards 21 new projects under the School Transport Infrastructure Program.
Kuluin State School will receive $281,000 for the construction of a raised pedestrian crossing.
The funding will also contribute towards necessary lighting upgrades, vegetation clearing and minor pathway works.
Meanwhile, $34,000 will fund the construction of a drop-off facility at the entry to Chancellor State Primary College, off Scholars Drive at Sippy Downs.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Brent Mickelberg said the upgrades would address long-standing safety concerns raised by local communities.

“Children are one of our most vulnerable road users and we will continue to work hard to support long-term solutions to school road safety issues across the state,” he said.
The upgrades will complement existing safety measures including flashing school zone signs, school crossing supervisors and community road safety grants.
An additional 100 sites across Queensland are also expected to receive flashing zone signs this year to alert drivers to slow down near schools during peak times.

Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said the measures reflected a need for better road safety in school zones.
“These investments are about making sure the journey to and from school is as safe as possible for children, parents and school staff,” he said.
“Everyone has a role to play in keeping kids safe on our roads.”
