A Sunshine Coast op shop severely flooded by an ex-tropical cyclone is set to reopen – refreshed, repaired and ready to support global causes again.
The Neighbours Aid outlet at Nambour was significantly impacted by ex-TC Alfred, which soaked parts of the region in early March.
The store was closed due to damage and delays reinstating flooring.
Neighbours Aid operations manager Suzie Hinson said it had impacted the charity’s ability to help others but she was pleased the store would soon be “op-and-running” again.
“With the unfortunate closure of our flagship store, it has meant a decline in funds for our projects,” she said.

“With over 10,000 beneficiaries, we are so happy to be not only able to serve the Nambour community again but move forward with our mission of aiding the less fortunate and making a difference around the world.”
The store, at 99 Howard Street, will reopen on Monday, June 30.
There will be a free sausage sizzle to thank the community for their support during the past four months.
“Our volunteers are eager to get back to seeing their friends and helping this fabulous cause,” Ms Hinson said.

“I know our customers will be excited to shop in our new-look store.”
The store is expected to look bright and new for the re-opening. Neighbours Aid stated that customers and volunteers were welcome to see the store and get a bargain at the same time.
Doors will open at 8.30am, with the free sausage sizzle to run from 9am until 1pm. Customers who visit in the first week will be in the draw to win a $50 gift voucher.
Neighbours Aid was founded on the Sunshine Coast in 2002, to support underprivileged children and their communities in third world countries through their social enterprise op shops.
There are outlets in nine locations in Queensland, including five on the Sunshine Coast.
