A “mind-blowing” estate atop a peak amid the Glass House Mountains is set to change hands.

The 5.7-hectare (11.68-acre) property at Mount Mellum is expected to sell for more than $15 million after it was put on the market this month.

It features an award-winning dual-pavilion mansion with five bedrooms and four bathrooms.

The property is named ‘Asgard’, after Norse mythology’s celestial home of the gods, and it boasts 360-degree views.

Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty senior sales executive Melissa Schembri said it was one of a kind.

“It’s absolutely mind-blowing,” she said. “There’s nothing else like it.

“The home has been designed to take in the phenomenal views.

“The living room has a huge glass panel … it’s like having artwork on the wall but you’re actually looking at the Glass House Mountains.

“You can see (north) to Noosa and beyond and (south) to Brisbane on a clear day.”

The Mount Mellum property is ‘on top of the world’.

Built in 2020, Asgard was designed by Dan Sparks of Sparks Architects. It was recognised with the Australian Institute of Architects Commendation Award for Residential Architecture in 2021.

The L-shaped residence has earthy tones and sleek lines with ironbark cladding, stone features, oak floors, entertaining areas, gourmet kitchen, infinity edge pool, fire pits, sauna, gym, solar, motorised blinds and under-floor heating in the bathrooms.

The property, at 400m elevation, also has a second residence and there is space for nine vehicles. The land features native trees, rainwater tank, two-bay structure and storage sheds.

It has attracted about 20 enquiries from Australia and abroad, including potential buyers Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and from Singapore and Egypt.

Ms Schembri said the property, which is 35 minutes from Maroochydore, could be used as a getaway or a permanent residence.

“It could be a holiday home or it could be a home for someone who wants to live on top of the world,” she said.

“We are seeing properties with views commanding high prices and this property is a once-in-a-lifetime property.

“It’s a very expensive build on one of the most incredible blocks we have ever seen on the Sunshine Coast.”

It is set to be sold by an IT entrepreneur. He and his partner are relocating.

“She loves horse riding, so they’ve bought a property where they can have stables,” Ms Schembri said.

Prospective buyers can request the address from Sotheby’s.
