An Aegean-style residence complete with arch windows and a belvedere has been quickly snapped up.

No.2/37 Duke Street, in the heart of chic Sunshine Beach, went under contract for $3.5 million within days of it hitting the market.

The home is one of two townhouses in a building named after Greek island Mykonos.

No.2 includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms and one garage. It is designed to make the most of the natural light and coastal environment with off-white walls, spacious rooms, curved windows, outdoor terraces with greenery and an eye-catching dome watchtower, otherwise known as a cupola or belvedere.

Century 21 Connolly Hay Group Noosa Heads sales executive Rachel Sellman said the building was well known.

It is less than 400m from the beach and about 100m from the town centre.

“I think it is quite iconic at Sunshine Beach,” she said.

“It has been there for a long time and really takes you to Mykonos.”

“I’ve spent time in Mykonos and the building is very true to a villa on the island.

“It is very solid: very well built.

“It’s been built exactly like you would see overseas.

“The curved and rendered construction, really light cream colours and beautiful bougainvilleas make it feel very Mediterranean.”

No.2 was promptly purchased after it was listed.

“It was sold in only a few days,” Ms Sellman said.

“Unless you went to the first open home you wouldn’t have seen it.

“There were people flying up from Sydney and Melbourne who did miss out on it because it was purchased so quickly.”

Ms Sellman said the previous owners were locals who run an interior design business, while the new owners “are excited to spend some time in Sunshine Beach, close to family”.

She sold the large home behind the units for $9 million a couple of years ago, while townhouse No.1 has reportedly been in the same hands since 1995.

It’s believed they were all built at the same time.

“It’s a unique set-up with the house and the two townhouses in the same location,” Ms Sellman said.

No.2/37 Duke Street was sold for $1.01m in 2017 and was then sold for $3 million last year, before being sold for another $500,000 this year.
