Two property development experts have been appointed to the board of the region’s leading business advocacy group.
Stockland Aura project director Josh Sondergeld and Scanlon Group founder and managing director Tony Scanlon claimed pivotal roles with the Sunshine Coast Business Council this month.
They’re expected to help steer the group’s agenda of driving economic growth, with focus on investment, infrastructure and job creation.
SCBC chair Sandy Zubrinich, who was re-elected at the AGM, said their combined expertise in property development would strengthen their efforts to support business growth and champion sustainable economic development in the region.
“Josh and Tony bring valuable insight into the property industry and their wealth of experience will be greatly beneficial to our board, particularly as our region continues to grapple with addressing the current housing crisis,” she said.
“Josh has been instrumental in delivering transformative communities on behalf of Stockland for close to two decades and is currently leading the project team at Stockland Aura, Australia’s largest master-planned community.
“He has a wealth of experience in facilitating the successful delivery of urban projects and understands the commercial factors which influence large-scale integrated developments.
“Tony brings a diverse skillset to this role including development, construction, project management, finance, property, sales and marketing and comprehensive operational experience in the accommodation and hospitality industries.
“Most recently, he has delivered Essence, a luxury resort incorporating a boutique hotel, luxury beach houses and a conference and events space in Peregian Beach.

“We welcome Josh and Tony to the board as we continue to work cooperatively with industry and government to maximise regional economic performance by stimulating thought leadership and discussion.
“The eight years ahead in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will require effective collaboration between industry, the community and all levels of government and I feel confident that our impressive board will continue to contribute to that agenda.”
Other changes to the board include the resignation of Nicola Scott from Master Builders earlier this year, and Adrian Allen from Stockland not re-nominating for his board position.

The SCBC board members are Sandy Zubrinich (Zubek), Kevin Covey (Covey Associates Pty Ltd), Kylie Ezzy (Sunshine Coast Airport), Jason Garland (Secure Access), Alex Hoffmann (Habitance Energy Positive Architecture), Peter Saba (Walker Corporation Pty Ltd), Tony Scanlon (Scanlon Group), Josh Sondergeld (Stockland) and Brad Williams (RPS).
UniSC’s Ross Young and TAFE Queensland’s Mark Reilly will continue in their roles as board advisers.
Sunshine Coast Business Council is the leading regional business advocacy group on the Sunshine Coast representing about 4000 businesses through its membership, which includes key national and regional industry groups and their members as well as national and regional businesses.
Its membership base represents a range of sectors including tourism, property, construction, retail, banking and financial services, telecommunications and professional services.
