A leading medical imaging company has opened its newest state-of-the-art facility, marking a new era for radiology in the region.

Sunshine Coast Radiology (SCR) has opened a practice at the Noosa Civic Medihub.

Bringing its cutting-edge medical imaging services to the Noosa community, the practice will enhance access to vital diagnostic tools and improve patient care.

SCR general manager Sharon Hinchley said the new facility marked a “significant milestone” for the imaging brand.

“The new practice offers a comprehensive range of imaging services designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region,” she said.

“Patients can now benefit from SCR’s expertise in X-ray, ultrasound, interventional procedures and CT scanning, with a major advancement on the horizon – the introduction of its PET/CT scanner.

Sunshine Coast Radiology Noosa will enhance access to vital diagnostic tools and improving patient care.

“This will be the first time SCR has offered PET/CT services, marking a significant milestone in the practice’s evolution and a game-changer for healthcare on the Sunshine Coast.”

Ms Hinchley said the new service was a highly advanced diagnostic tool that combined Positron Emission Tomography (PET) with Computed Tomography (CT) in one scan.

She said this could assist doctors identify early-stage disease, distinguish between living and dead tissue, differentiate benign from malignant tumours, assess blood flow and the function of brain and heart tissue, and evaluate infection and inflammation.

“This technology is particularly valuable in oncology, where it helps in detecting cancers, determining the extent of disease, and monitoring treatment effectiveness.

Sunshine Coast Radiology has opened a practice at the Noosa Civic Medihub.

“By having PET/CT services available locally, Sunshine Coast residents will no longer need to travel long distances to Brisbane or other major cities to access this advanced form of diagnostic imaging.

“The introduction of PET/CT reflects SCR’s commitment to staying at the forefront of medical imaging, ensuring that local patients have access to the best possible diagnostic tools without the inconvenience of leaving the region.”

Since 2007, SCR been delivering imaging services across the region and Ms Hinchley said the new practice continued that tradition while bringing the latest technology to Noosa in a convenient and welcoming environment.

“Patients and referring clinicians alike can expect prompt, high-quality imaging results supported by SCR’s experienced team of radiologists and imaging technologists,” she said.

“The combination of cutting-edge technology and expert interpretation ensures that patients receive accurate diagnoses and timely treatment, ultimately leading to better health outcomes.

“SCR is proud to serve the Noosa community and looks forward to the positive impact this new facility will have on local healthcare.”
