Members of the public are being invited to have their say on the future of an eight-hectare waterfront garden.

Noosa Council is asking people to share their vision for the Noosa Botanic Gardens Master Plan until September 29.

Cr Karen Finzel, chair of the Noosa Botanic Gardens Master Plan Stakeholder Reference Group, said the council was eager to work with the community and key stakeholders on a plan for the gardens.

“The Noosa Botanic Gardens, on the shores of Lake Macdonald, is a fantastic local open space which is loved by locals and visitors alike,” Cr Finzel said.

“We are embarking on a master plan process to create an even better and more meaningful landscape experience.”

“We’re also inviting the community to come along to one of the pop-up events in the Noosa Botanic Gardens and have their say.”

The Noosa Botanic Gardens are on the edge of Lake Macdonald.

Cr Finzel said feedback in this first phase of engagement would inform the development of the draft master plan, which will be presented back to the community for a second round of community engagement.

“This aims to build on the Noosa Botanic Gardens Master Plan – Stage 1 Vision Statement that was prepared in 2017, in consultation with key stakeholders and the community,” Cr Finzel said.

The community pop-up events will be on September 1 and 7, and include events including guided walks and a plant sale.
