When guests arrived at Sir Leslie Wilson Park overlooking the ocean at Dicky Beach, they were greeted by the cool, Caribbean sounds of the Pantastic steel drum band welcoming them to the wedding of Charles Carter and Taymour Stanley.

The couple chose to “pre-honeymoon”, enjoying sunsets and chilli crab in Darwin then flying to Tokyo for a cruise around Japan in preparation for the busyness to come.

In the lead-up to the day there were a few stressful moments, with rain threatening to derail their plans and many of the 70 guests flying to the Coast affected by the Bonza closure.

So it was with relief and elation, under clear skies with all of their guests present, that the bride walked down the aisle proudly towards her handsome groom.

One of the most important plans for the day was spending quality time together, so between the ceremony and reception, after their wedding photos, they hopped onto their electric scooters and took a ride around the beachfront accompanied by cheers and congratulations from families barbecuing in the park.

When it was time, they rode directly into the wedding reception, proudly displaying “just” and “married” number plates on the front of the scooters.

“We love being married. It really is a dream come true,” they said.

“We still look at each other and randomly just say ‘husband’ or ‘wife’ out loud because it’s kind of surreal.

“Our wedding day was exactly what we wanted. It was busy and bright with life and movement and colour everywhere we looked. The music was epic and our guests danced the night away.”

This day was all about the fun and totally reflected the couple’s quirky personalities.
