A contemporary wellness-inspired clubhouse with rainforest views has been officially opened in a seniors community on the Sunshine Coast.

The facility, dubbed Nature’s Retreat, is set to add another slice of luxury to Ingenia Lifestyle Nature’s Edge at Buderim.

It features a resort-style outdoor pool and spa, yoga and pilates space, gym and change rooms, sauna, hairdressing salon, kitchen, barbecue area, dining room, retreat space and a social space anchored by a bar and balcony that captures rainforest views.

Ingenia Communities executive general manager development, sales and marketing Von Slater said the retreat was a welcome addition.

“Nature’s Edge residents have been eagerly awaiting the opening and, in particular, its second pool, which is geothermally heated, keeping it not only luxuriously warm throughout the year but also sustainable,” she said.

“We believe in the importance of creating communities, facilities and amenities that allow our residents to live the kind of lifestyle where they can flourish, where they can enjoy the company of others in a fun, social environment or enjoy some quiet time to themselves in a relaxing atmosphere.”

Ms Slater said community facilities were an expectation of the new generation of downsizers on the Sunshine Coast.

“Resident connectivity is always front of mind and these additional amenities will further strengthen engagement, friendships and relationships within Nature’s Edge,” she said.

“Our residents won’t need to go far to explore new hobbies, pamper themselves all amongst a thriving community.”

Resident Tony Unsworth said spending time at Nature’s Retreat was like going on a holiday without having to leave home.

“Essentially it’s like going to a resort, which you don’t have to pay for,” he said.

“We don’t have to catch the train or a bus or a plane to go somewhere: we’re here so that’s the best part about it.”

After touring the facility, resident Jeanne Woolgrove said the new spaces would appeal to everyone in the community.

“I like the idea of the outdoor pool,” she said.

“I think that’s more enticing for families: kids prefer that than being in the indoor pool.

“And I like the rooms up here, the smaller rooms, because we play a lot of cards.

“We play in the big centre but it’s nice to have smaller, sort of more intimate areas, that you can play in.”

Councillor Ted Hungerford said the clubhouse was a great addition to the community.

“This is totally next level,” he said.

“There’s so much to do and it’s like a community within itself, which is different to what they’ve been in the past.

“I was here for the sod turning 10 months ago … what’s come out of the ground in 10 months is absolutely inspiring. I was really amazed when I came in here.”

Ingenia Lifestyle was formed in 2013 by Ingenia Communities Group, a leading owner, operator and developer of seniors’ housing communities in Australia.

More than 6500 seniors call an Ingenia Lifestyle home, across 29 locations in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

The Ingenia Lifestyle model is unique in that buyers purchase a new home and lease, rather than own the land, offering a much more affordable entry price point and eliminating the need to pay stamp duty.
